1992

  • LCM founded, primarily as a supplier of cast rare earth alloys and high purity indium.


1996

  • Company acquired by leading international materials supplier, Meldform Metals Group.
  •  LCM purchases the co-reduction process from the Elektro-Thermit Division of Th. Goldsmidt Company, enabling the production and supply of highly specified co-reduced as well as cast samarium cobalt alloys.
  •  Existing induction melting equipment, together with plant from the newly acquired co-reduction process, are consolidated into a new purpose-built facility in Birkenhead, North-West England.

2000

  • Transfer of manufacturing plant, analytical laboratory and expertise from the now closed Johnson Matthey, Rare Earth Products business. Newly commissioned plant provides a significant expansion to a capacity of around 1000 tonnes of alloys per year.

2001

  • LCM successfully gains a Queens Award for Enterprise (International Trade) in recognition of outstanding export performance.
  •  Company separated from the Meldform Metals Group to be established as a wholly autonomous business unit.


2002

  • LCM successfully gains certification of its Quality System to the ISO9001:2000 standard.
2008
  • LCM becomes part of the Canadian junior mining company, Great Western Minerals Group. Work begins on implementing a "Mine to Market" model to develop a fully integrated supplier of rare earth alloys.
